What is the Get in Their Shoes Campaign?

The Get in Their Shoes Campaign is a call to action by successful business leaders, athletes, entertainers, and politicians to rally youth and aspiring leaders to lift themselves out of their limiting circumstances by proactively interviewing successful professionals within their own communities.
Some of the most successful professionals in the world have donated a 30-minute phone mentorship to be auctioned-off as part of this campaign.
IMNO is promoting its cause through the Get in Their Shoes Campaign by putting-on the largest mentorship auction ever conducted.
Why is the Campaign needed?
Youth unemployment worldwide skyrocketed to an all-time high. Young people aged 15 to 24 represent nearly half of the world’s jobless although they are only 25 per cent of the working age population.
In addition, the UN’s Youth Employment Network states:
A generation without the hope of stable employment is a burden of responsibility for all of society. Poor employment in the early stages of a young person’s career can harm job prospects for life. Underemployed or unemployed youth will have less to spend as consumers or to save and invest, which will hurt employers and economies. The economic investment and governments in education and training will be wasted if young people do not move into productive jobs that enable them to pay taxes and support public services. Young women and men who find themselves alienated from society, frustrated by lack of opportunity and without means are sometimes more vulnerable to involvement with illegal and criminal activities.
Who founded the Get in Their Shoes Campaign?
The Get in Their Shoes Campaign was founded by IMNO, the International Mentoring Network Organization. IMNO is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that gives help and direction for the career development of youth and aspiring professionals around the world through professional mentoring. IMNO encourages its members to interview successful professionals within their own communities. Members conduct interviews with mentors to not only develop their own careers, but to allow everyone else to learn from the mentor’s knowledge and experience.
In addition, individuals can access the IMNO web site to study the advice of successful professionals and apply the principles they learn in their own careers. This mentoring is provided to anyone, anytime, anywhere.
